But in other cases, you may wish your promotion to only be made available a certain number of times to a specific group of customers, such as ‘VIP Customer: £10 off your next booking in January with this code’. So how can you avoid customers sharing your voucher and using it more than once?

There are a number of security options available to help you control the way your vouchers can be used:

 

Terms and Conditions
Stating terms and conditions on your voucher is a simple and effective way to prevent customers from using your voucher more than once. We recommend having the expiry date of the voucher and how many times it can be used as a minimum.

Maximum per Customer
Set a specific number of times your voucher can be claimed per customer. iVoucher has a Maximum per Customer setting which means that after a customer has submitted their email address a certain number of times, a message will be displayed saying the maximum number of claims has been reached and they will no longer be able to claim the voucher.

Maximum Voucher Quantity
Set a total amount of vouchers that can be claimed in total. This is ideal if you are looking to run a high value promotion or flash sale that you only offer to your first 100 customers for example.

Always assess the amount of risk to your business before deciding how many controls to put in place over your voucher – you don’t want to prevent people from using the voucher for the sake of one or two people who attempt to claim multiple times.
